- Esistono almeno due modi per sviluppare un numero razionale in
frazione continua: uno con ultimo quoziente parziale uguale a 1, uno con
ultimo quoziente parziale strettamente maggiore di uno; il numero dei
quozienti parziali in tali due scritture differisce di 1.
- Tale ambiguità è la sola ambiguità: due frazione continue con lo
stesso valore e ultimo quoziente porziale
strettamente maggiore di 1 sono infatti uguali.
- Ogni numero razionale si può scrivere in maniera essenzialmente
unica come somma di una frazione continua semplice finita
